Church Music Administration | 3 Hours
A study in the actual administration of the complete music program of a local church. This includes study of a graduated choral program, instrumental program, working with soloists, small groups, etc., and the expansion of congregational music participation.
College Math | 3 Hours
An introduction to various mathematical concepts, covering topics such as sets, logic, functions, and mathematical systems.
Economics | 3 Hours
An introduction to the basic tools of micro- and macroeconomic analysis in a math intensive way.
Microeconomics deals with consumers, firms, markets and income distribution. Macroeconomics deals with national income, employment, inflation and money.
English Composition I | 3 Hours
A course that emphasizes effective communication in writing through studying and practicing various types of creative writing. It also includes some grammar review as well as some study of proper diction. Prerequisite EN 099 or tested out of EN 099.
English Composition II | 3 Hours
This course is a study of practical writing with the main emphasis of research and the writing of a college-level APA research paper. The skill of summarizing is also emphasized. Other practical writing includes the annotated bibliography, the analytical book review, and the memo. Prerequisite EN 101
History of Missions | 3 Hours
A study of the history of missions from the time of the book of Acts to the present day. This study notes the effects of missions upon society and society’s effects upon attitudes toward missions in different ages.
Hymnology | 3 Hours
The historical development of the hymn: Greek, Latin, and German hymns; hymnody of the Reformation; analytical study of the history of hymns and hymn writers from the time of Christ to the present.
Information Literacy
This program evaluates the student’s ability to research and recognize valuable resources when they first enter college. The evaluation occurs once more at the end of senior year. In addition, a five-week Information Literacy class prepares students for their college career and leads them into a broader knowledge of the subject.
Introduction to Counseling | 3 Hours
An introduction to the basic principles and practices of pastoral counseling. A brief look is taken at some of the various theories in Christian counseling. Attention is given to those counseling principles that deal with the psychological, physiological, sociological, and spiritual needs of individuals and families. The class also emphasizes the practical side of counseling by giving the student actual in-class practice of the component skills of the counseling process (active listening skills, empathy, goal setting, strategies, etc.) Prerequisite: PS231.
Issues in Christian Leadership | 3 Hours
This course will focus on internal and external problems Christian leaders will face in today’s world. It will explore Biblical principles for the student to utilize when facing these problems.
Marketing | 3 Hours
A study of why consumers buy and how consumer behavior affects marketing strategy formulation. Topics include the individual (perceptions, needs, motives, personality, learning, and attitudes), group interactions, and applications to selected areas of the marketing mix (product, price, and advertising).
Pedagogy | 2 Hours
A study of various methods, materials and approaches of teaching music.
Principles in Finance | 3 Hours
This course helps students develop their own personal and institutional value system in relation to finances, with special emphasis on applying biblical principles.
Teaching Science | 2 Hours
Presents a survey of materials and methods involved in the teaching of science in the elementary classroom. Prerequisite: ED 112
